Hunting/Fishing/Outdoors

Booneville is located at the junction of Arkansas State Highways 23 and 10 and lies between the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and the Ouachita region. South Logan County provides the best of both regions with hiking trails, wilderness areas, spring-fed streams, recreation areas, wildlife and some of the best vistas in Western Arkansas.

Blue Mountain Lake - located 17 miles east of Booneville on Highway 10, is a favorite spot for fishing, swimming and water skiing. It has five Corps of Engineer recreation and camping sites located around the lake.

Mount Magazine State Park - located north-east of Booneville, is Arkansas' highest peak soaring to 2,753 feet. Sweeping vistas of broad river valleys, deep canyons, and distant mountains welcome outdoor enthusiasts.

The Ouachitas Region is composed of a series of east-west ridges separated by narrow valleys that provide a mecca of opportunities for hunters. November white-tail deer hunting in this region is some of the best in the state of Arkansas, and this area consistently provides the state's liveliest spring turkey hunting action. There are also large numbers of squirrel, rabbit, quail, black bear and dove hunting with varied seasons open for each game.

Fishing is great year-round in our area. The many sparkling lakes, rivers and streams offer ample opportunity for fishermen to "wet a hook". Whether you are casting for bass fo fishing for crappie, you'll find plenty of angling adventures in South Logan County.
